Roswell, New Mexico is a bummer, and I feel like everyone in that town would agree with me. In fact “If you make a single alien joke I will cut your pay…” were the first words out of the promoters mouth that night. It’s understandable. The alien gift shops that take up most of downtown are  monuments to crushed dreams that should only exist in a Harmony Korine film and the deteriorating UFO artwork that is painted all over the time makes it absolutely impossible to forget where you are. The show, however, was absolutely fantastic. 70 something insanely awesome kids crammed into a small Boys and Girls club and gave us one of the most intense and intimate flor shows that we’ve played in a long time.

It’s shows like that and the one we played in Albuquerque the next day that make this worth it to us. If we could play small, dirty, DIY minded venues filled with people that truly give a shit about music every day we would. The connection is so much more exciting and real and the post show conversations are typically much deeper and far more effecting than the “You guys are so scary” that we get from 15 year old scene girls.

As I write this we are on our way home. I’m never ready for tours to end, and this was no exception. This is the worst part of touring. You live such a completely transient life on the road that you develop a very unique bond with the people that you are out with, and it always makes it difficult to go home. I may not have showered in 10 days and I may be covered in cuts and bruises, but there is nothing I would rather do.

5 weeks and we head back out. See you on the road.
