The Material – 1st ROAD BLOG from West Coast Tour with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

The alternative/rock band, The Material, is currently on a West Coast tour supporting Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. While they’re on this tour, the band’s lead singer, Colleen D’Agostino, will be writing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out her first update (with pictures), after the break.

“It’s Thursday August 15 and we’re in Sparks, NV… This place can be described in one word…HOT! We’re getting ready to hit the stage at The Alley with our friends Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. But in the meantime, I’ll take you on a quick journey through the tour for the last few days.

One week ago today we packed up the van to head up to the first show in Kennewick, WA. It was a pretty long drive and we had two flat tires on the way up, but when we pulled up to the venue Saturday afternoon, the sign on the door said “sold out” which was a good sign! The show was great and we were happy to be in Washington!

The next day we had off so we went to Seattle to hang out. We saw a Mariners game at Safeco Field, went to Pike’s Place and visited our favorite pubs and restaurants. The next day we played an awesome show in Seattle at Studio Seven! Before the show we did an acoustic performance with Nervous Energies and two photo shoots. All in all it was a great day!

Tuesday we headed to Portland and got some ink at Scapegoat Tattoo. I rocked out a little too hard the night before so I was on vocal rest all day, but we still had a good time roaming the city and visiting our favorite Voodoo Donuts. That night we planned on driving down to Sacramento for our show the next day but as soon as we got to Salem, OR our trailer tire started smoking. We pulled over and found that the axle was broken. At this point it was 7pm and all the shops were closed. We spent the night in a parking lot and took it to get fixed the next morning. After spending all day in the shop, the trailer was fixed but unfortunately not in time for the show in Sacramento. Ironic considering my new tattoo says “Come what may”… Bummed and tired we made our way to Sparks, NV for the next show.

Despite the rocky road it’s been with our touring rig, we’ve had a blast and made the best of our situation. On the drive through the mountains we stopped at Crater lake for some great photos! Check them out!

Time to hit the stage soon, stay tuned for more of The Material adventures!” -Colleen
