Radical Something – TOUR TIPS

This new set of Tour Tips was written by Big Red, from the hip-hop/reggae band, Radical Something. You can check out their tips for being on the road, after the break.

1. Be kind. After a few weeks on the road pretty much everyone gets a little grumpy. Make sure you realize that your attitude will rub off on those around you. Everyone needs to feel appreciated at their job, Lead singers, merch people, even the homies working security. Be kind to everyone and your team will do their best to make sure YOU have a good show! Well most of the time….haha

2. Clothes. Make sure you bring lots of socks and undies. These things get dirty quick and sometimes it’s difficult to find somewhere to do laundry. Have plenty of these and a solid pair of jeans that you will wear just about every night and you are safe! Also, wear black… Because you will most likely get dirty every 5 seconds and black cloths will hide these battle scars.

3. Take care of yourself. Traveling always exposes you to germs and drinking will crush your voice/immune system. Make sure take vitamin C and drink tons of water. Also realize your body need fruits and veggies so don’t forget about them. DO NOT share drinks and water bottles with people, that’s a perfect way to catch something and get everyone sick.

4. Save your ears. Most of the time venues are ridiculously loud both on stage and off. Make sure you have a nice pair of ear-plugs on you at all times and wear them whenever you are in front of house. Also try and keep the stage from getting too loud in your monitor mix, the loudness is real and you will be def in 5 years if don’t pay attention to the damage you could be creating.

5. HAVE FUN. Sometimes the road gets super stressful and you forget the fact that you are doing what most people dream of. Stop wining, it could be much worse…. Like not playing music on a tour??
