In this Tour Tips segment, the singer-songwriter, Yael Naim, recommends advice for being a musician on the road. You can check out the tips, after the break.

For the one going on tour I’d recommend these 5 tips:
1- Make sure you always surround yourself with people you love or care about in your team on tour – you spend so much time together that it’s essential it’s spent with people that you care about.
2- Always eat and sleep well …you might become very weak and sad if you don’t pay attention to your physical and mental health.
3- Try to keep on with physical activities … I love doing yoga or long walks. Physical activities help with your mental health when you’re on the road too.
4- Try to find some time for doing something else you like (something else than playing music, eating, sleeping, eating, sleeping :). This could be composing, painting, reading, visiting places, meeting new people.
5- Renew yourself on stage … take risks, try new ways to play, try new music, change the setlist without telling your musicians, tell a story on stage that you never told anybody before … anything that will keep you awake and creative!
