Righteous Vendetta – 2nd ROAD BLOG from U.S. Tour with HURT

We are now over a month into our series of tours with Hurt and still trucking. It has been an interesting couple of weeks as far as transportation. Last we wrote, the five of us plus a merch guy were packed in Chevy Silverado. The reason we ended up in a Silverado was because we were in the market for a new touring rig when our financial priorities went elsewhere. So what ended up happening was we left our van in Corpus Christi, TX to get fixed while we did our loop around the state. We got back to the ol’ Vandetta, hooked on the trailer, and took off with some fresh brakes, new windshield, and tune-up. While pulling up to the Chameleon Room in OKC, we noticed a bare patch on our fairly new trailer tires only to find out the whole wheel had about half an inch of give on the bearing. This resulted in our next memorable venture of this tour.

Considering the wheel was just a couple miles away from flying straight off our trailer, a friend offered to buy us a hotel room so we could get up early and find someone to assess and repair our problem. Before we dive in, let me state we were very grateful to have a hotel room purchased for us. Now let me describe this hotel: it was just far enough from the main road to be tucked back in the darkness, and it was mainly used for weekly low-income rent. Hopefully this is stimulating your imagination about the average character floating around this place. I (Justin) checked into the room while the rest of the guys loaded the trailer back at the venue. After walking by many less-than-comforting glares, I approach the room only to see through the window that the bathroom light is on with the door cracked. I enter the room to be welcomed with what smelled like an old abandoned football locker room, aka overwhelming mold of epic proportions. I quickly came to conclusion that the only reasonable explanation is that there is a murderer in the bathroom waiting for me to open the door so they could end me with a rusted blade. After five minutes of being frozen in fear deciding whether I should check or bail, I finally opened the door to an empty bathroom with a light that was accidentally left on by the cleaning service. However, the mold was definitely an actual potential murderer, so thankfully we were able to get a cleaner room on the other side of the complex. Moral of this story, always be aware of the silent killers.

We are now working our way back up North, currently weaving the Midwest right now. There are still a couple more weeks of dates on our tour with Hurt, so keep up with our tour schedule and come catch a show!
