Join us as Raynes tells you all about how they prepare for taking the stage.

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the pop band, Raynes, reveals what they do before taking the stage. You can check out the rituals below:
Hello! We’re Raynes, and we’re here to provide you with a little behind-the-scenes access to our pre-show rituals.
Mark is the lead singer, and to be honest, he is a bit more committed to show preparation than the rest of us.
From pretty much the moment he wakes up, he’s taking care of his voice. He drinks a bunch of water and uses one of those little portable nebulizers throughout the day. He also doesn’t eat within a few hours of the show; he thinks it makes him concentrate better—which seems true so far! He’s also a bit of a drill sergeant when it comes to vocal warm-ups. We use Annabelle Williams’ The Vocal Coach app religiously—it’s about as much fun as you can have doing warm-ups, and it’s a great way to get the vibes up and our voices ready to go (check our social media to see what we mean).
While Mark is nebulizing in the green room, Joe will often share a story about his life that nobody has ever heard before. We’ve known each other for almost eight years at this point, but Joe has such a deep well of personal lore that we’re always learning more wild things about him. And Mat will usually just be pacing around in circles, which isn’t really a ritual but more of a compulsion. Nobody knows why he does it, but it seems very important to him.
We also have to admit that, almost always, part of our pre-show prep is scrambling to finish some important task that we forgot to do. Usually, this is something like “writing out the set lists,” or “getting batteries for our in-ear monitors,” or “changing strings.” Sometimes it’s “remembering the words to a song” or “confirming which city we’re in.”
Finally, we have a fun team chant that we do before every show—standing in a circle, hands in the middle, the whole thing. But we can’t share any more details than that or we’ll lose the magic.
