Polkadot Cadaver – 2nd ROAD BLOG from “Last Call In Jonestown Tour”

Polkadot Cadaver is currently on their headline tour, “Last Call In Jonestown Tour” with One-Eyed Doll and Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, which is sponsored by us. While they’re on this tour, they will be writing an exclusive blog. You can check out the second entry, after the break.

“The ‘Last Call in Jonestown’ tour rolls along. After a day off following our first three shows, we entered into a stretch of 13 days in a row with no time off. A little tiring for instrumentalists, but especially exhausting for vocalists.
The first three shows of this stretch were in NY state, beginning in Albany at Bogies, moving along to Middletown (where Jasan and myself went on a 3 mile venture on foot for a Starbucks that we would later learn did not exist), and then concluded in Syracuse in front of a packed-in and energetic crowd of hooligans at Three Fat Guys (also not located near a Starbucks). An early arrival and late show culminated in a lot of football, sweating, and general sitting around prior to the show.
Moving along — we ventured to our home away from home: Cleveland, OH. We always have a good show at Peabody’s, and this would be no exception. Lots of show mayhem, including a girlfight right up front. The following day was a break from the touring package where we headed off to (seemingly) parts unknown for Dalefest in Imlay City, Michigan. How do I describe Dalefest…? I suppose it sort of resembled a hippie commune where they worship Pantera rather than the Dead. The well-timed rainstorm also ensured that we would have a tricky and messy time, though thanks to our friends in A Sleepless Malice we were able to share some equipment and keep the potential for gear catastrophes to a minimum. Kudos to Jasan for pulling off a rather tricky maneuver of turning the van and trailer around amidst the tent and staging area, allowing us to get on the road to our next destination that night instead of having to wait for cars to eventually get out of the way the following morning.
Next up was Joliet, IL, where we were pretty uncertain what the turnout might be (especially given that the venue is slightly larger than many that we play), but the turnout was great and the energy was awesome. This was also the night that One Eyed Doll joined the tour, so after introductions we got our first glimpse of the complete tour package.
Finally, St Joseph, MI. Beautiful town by the lake. And fro-yo right around the block! Spent the day hanging around in town before hitting the stage at Czars 505, run by our buddy Lance who we got to know on tour a little over a year ago when he was working as main sound engineer for Wayne Static.
More updates coming soon…” -Scott
