As a band and as fans of music, we have always enjoyed mixed-genre shows and tours. Our musical influences are wide, and there's not a genre that is off limits. Each member of this band has been involved in projects from heavy metal to hip-hop/R&B. We try to create music that embodies all of the genres that have influenced us along the way, much like the shows and festivals we enjoy.

Each member threw out a band/artist, and here's the current lineup for the Night Hums dream tour:

Night Hums, Paramore, The Contortionist, The 1975, Knocked Loose, Prince

Paramore is a great example of evolving while still being true to your sound. Earlier songs and albums stick to the pop-punk and emo genres, whereas their later music highlights more of the pop in pop-punk—all while still being themselves. Our drummer is a Paramore super-fan, but we all enjoy the rhythms and their iconic vocalist.

The Contortionist is epic, heavy, and fantastic storytellers. We all come from a heavy metal background and have been drawn into the progressive and djent side of the genre. We try to incorporate these themes in our music. We always find ourselves putting on one of The Contortionist's hour-long live sets while packing up for a show. Their level of tightness is what we strive for while performing live.

The 1975 has influenced our songwriting and production level a great deal. They have some of the best grooves around—album after album of hits—and you never know what you're going to hear next. Their stage sets and live shows are unmatched. A huge live production. It would be a dream come true to one day have the budget to match the level of production that goes into their concerts. Definitely heavy on the vibes too.

There's nothing like the energy of a Knocked Loose concert. It's unrelenting, but in the best way. We were very stoked to see them getting some mainstream recognition and being on some of the bigger festivals. We may or may not have a side project in the works that is heavily influenced by Knocked Loose. We love jamming their songs before we play.

In our eyes, Prince is the ultimate songwriter. A legend. We are all multi-instrumentalists, and each of us contributes in various ways to the songwriting process. Prince could do it all—and very well. Talk about passion. Prince holds a special place in our hearts, and his legacy pushes us to strive to be better every day.

Regardless of genre or how heavy/soft you consider a band, groove and energy are what get us excited. If the music holds down a vibe and has a deep pocket, we are fans. We love playing for and meeting people who normally wouldn't search for our kind of music. In the same vein, we love experiencing music and performances that we normally wouldn't necessarily seek out. So our dream tour would have something for a wide variety of music lovers.
