Madison Rising – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the rock band, Madison Rising, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

As we in Madison Rising tour this great nation, we find ourselves getting involved in some of the same actions from place to place before our actual performances. Among these, perhaps our most commonplace preshow ritual is mingling with our passionate fan base. We are truly blessed to have the most dedicated group of fans that I have ever come to know. Many of these true patriots will not hesitate to get themselves in a vehicle and drive long distances across many states in order to attend our performances. As we also have a large number of fans who live and breathe Harley Davidson and biker culture, it is not uncommon to come across fans who put their two wheels to the open road and travel great lengths in order to see us perform, and for that, we are truly honored. Needless to say, at any given Madison Rising event you will find us mingling with our fan base who mean so much to us, with those who served trading stories of times past and those who just feel the same as we do when it comes to loving our country and being prideful of patriotism and the men and women of our armed forces.

From a technical standpoint, a big preshow ritual of ours is to always spend a lot of time on our soundcheck, making sure that our performance will sound as best as it could with the equipment provided. We in Madison Rising believe that no event that honors our nation is too big or too small, and with that being said we can go from playing a stadium-sized arena of thousands to a field of 20 attendees set deep within the backroads of small town America. Due to the wide variety of event types and locations, the quality of provided sound equipment for the venue in question tends to vary considerably. Regardless of venue size, crowd attendance, or available stage equipment, we always find ourselves working out any kinks extensively before any of our performances begin.

Lastly, we always like to spend time before any show getting a feel for the venue and event in question, as well as the demographics and preferences of those in attendance. In doing so, we are able to spend a good amount of time before a performance putting together a set list of song material that we feel will best cater to the crowd for that given night. For example, if we have a lot of younger patriots in attendance or we are playing a rock music festival where “the louder the better” is the norm, we may be inclined to showcase some of the most hard-hitting and metal oriented material in our repertoire. If we are playing an intimate, sit-down event that honors a fallen hero or has an important charitable cause, we may opt for a more reserved but no less passionate set of lighter and more classic rock oriented material. This preshow ritual of getting a good feel for the event and crowd in question is always important to us. Regardless of the event, you will always find us hanging out before our performances with the many patriots who have not only become great fans of the band but truly great friends as well.
