In this Dream Tour segment, the indie pop rock artist, Joshua Hawkes, reveals who he would want on his ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks below:
My Dream Tour? Let's Talk About It.
Now that’s a question. Honestly, I could go on forever about the artists I’d love to tour with. But for the sake of your time (and mine), I’ll give you my top three — the ones who’ve left the biggest mark on me as a writer and musician.
Jeff Buckley
I often joke that it should be a legal requirement for everyone to own a copy of Grace. Jokes aside, Jeff and that record have had a profound impact on me — not just as a listener, but as a writer and artist. I watch the live performance of “Hallelujah” at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago at least once a week, and it still stops me in my tracks every single time. You could hear a pin drop in that room — the performance is just hauntingly beautiful. To have performed at a show with him? Man… I honestly can’t even put it into words.
Bon Iver
I was lucky enough to see Bon Iver at the Hammersmith Apollo in London back in 2018 during the 22, A Million tour — and it was absolutely unreal. Their live shows feel almost otherworldly. I genuinely walked out of that venue feeling like a different person. I first discovered them when “Skinny Love” was featured as an iTunes Single of the Week (remember those?), and it’s wild to think how far their sound has evolved since then. Honestly, how could I not include Justin Vernon and the gang on my dream tour?
The National
I’m a sucker for The National — easily one of my all-time favourite live bands with a discography that just never misses. They’re the only band I know that can break your heart with one song and have you screaming along to the next. I saw them in 2023, and I still remember hearing “Space Invader” live from the new record — that outro was something else. It just stayed with me. Their ability to translate emotion into sound is unmatched.
So yeah — those are my top three. The artists that have not only messed me up emotionally (in the best way possible) but also inspired the way I write and perform. Touring with any of them would be absolutely insane — like, full-blown pinch-me level stuff.
