In this Tour Tips segment, the singer-songwriter, Jessy Rose, recommends advice for being a musician on the road. You can check out the tips, after the break.
My 5 tips for touring! I’ve been on a couple of European tours with my band Hare Squead over the last few years, but now that I’m going solo, I’m excited to get back on the road and perform.
My first tip is not to overpack clothes, but instead to go shopping in each city and pick up some new items. That way you have the excitement of wearing something new, and also a memento from everywhere you visit.
Try to take as many photos as you can, even though you might be feeling exhausted and burned out.
If possible use your days off to experience the local food and culture of the city you’re in, instead of spending all day in bed!
Instead of sweets and chocolate, request wholesome food on your rider like bread, hummus, salad, and cooked meats. This way you can be sure to have something healthy, instead of just surviving on M&Ms and crisps.
My last tip is to bring entertainment for those long bus rides, such as a PSP, and books. The more the better!
