Jean Castel – FIRST CONCERT EVER

In this First Concert Ever segment, the singer-songwriter, Jean Castel, talks about his first concert ever. You can check out the feature, after the break.

The first concert I ever went to was a Jean-Jacques Goldman concert. For those who don’t know him, he is one of the most famous, loved, and amazing french artists there is. It was in 2002, one of the last concerts of his final tour and I was 6 at the time. I was lucky to see him because he stopped performing and sort of “retired” after that tour and hasn’t performed since.
I was fascinated by the music played on stage, the way he interacted musically with his musicians, the audience, this incredible synergy, all the effects, and production put together for the show. Also, he would sometimes stop and talk to the audience or to one specific person in the audience and make this big show seem like a very intimate one. I remember feeling like I was transported to a different world.
A couple of months after the show I bought the VHS and started watching it over and over again at home. It really made me want to start performing. Feeling that energy there, at that moment and seeing how people reacted was one of the most thrilling things ever. He’s definitely one of the reasons why I’m doing music today.
