In this Tour Tips segment, the rock band, Fast Car To Florence, give you their tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1. Pack Joggers
Loungewear, tracksuit, whatever you want to call it. These should arguably be at the top of everyone’s packing list. Easily overlooked, but all it takes is one five-hour van journey in last night’s sweaty skinny jeans and they’ll be at the forefront of your mind FOREVER.
2. Mentally prepare yourself for the inside jokes
You’re going to be spending an extended period of time in confined spaces with the same 6 – 8 people for days on end. The conversations are going to get weird. Prepare for your family/friends/significant others to look at you with a sort of sympathetic confusion upon your return.
3. Check out the places you’re playing
Have a wander, explore the area, stretch your legs. You don’t need to seek out every landmark in the city and get your bandmate to take a picture of you posing for your Instagram, but something as simple as walking down the street for a McDonalds will alleviate the tedium of the ‘dressing room phone scroll.’ Especially on longer tours.
4. Keep your devices charged
Pretty self-explanatory. No one needs a dead phone on a long journey. Nothing is worse than getting halfway through a film on your laptop for it to suddenly throw in the towel. Be smart – charge your devices at the venue or hotel the night before, bring a portable charger. You might think ‘our van has sockets, this doesn’t apply to me!’ but this can be an extremely hit and miss approach… (most of the time they don’t work).
5. Be nice
Very straightforward. Don’t be a dick – to your bandmates, your crew, the other bands, the venue staff, your fans, ANYONE. Be professional, be humble and be hardworking. Manners cost nothing and smiles make the world go around. Touring is a lot more pleasant for everyone when this is taken into account!

Keep up with the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
