In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the singer-songwriter, Chris Kläfford, shares one of his stories from being on the road. You can check out the story, after the break.
It was August 2020, and the pandemic had swept over the world, canceling most concerts and events in its way. Mine was no exception. Pissed off and tired of the situation I started walking. If I couldn’t go on tour with my band, at least I could go, forward. And up it turned out. Me, my younger brother, and our mother’s husband packed up the car and drove to Kiruna in the north, home of Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest mountain.
With my hiking boots on, and a guitar on my back, I started the craziest, most exhausting journey of my life. I was going to perform my music on the peak of this mountain!
It took us 7 hours to get to the top. We were wet from the rain and sweat. Our legs hurt like a mother! But we made it! I sat down on a rock, began to play, and sang my then-latest single, Remember when. I don’t know how many people can say they performed on the top of a mountain, but I can! And I’m so happy did it!
Lucky for me, my brother has a video production company and brought his camera along for the ride to capture the whole thing. So I got some serious bragging rights, a really nice YouTube video, and a great memory out of that journey! And the muscle pain, man, the muscle pain!
