Alex Hall – FIRST CONCERT EVER

In this First Concert Ever segment, the country artist, Alex Hall, talks about his first concert ever. You can check out the feature, after the break.

My first concert ever was during one of my first trips to Nashville in 2009 or 2010. I was 15 years old, so my parents had driven me up from Georgia for a few co-writes. My dad had seen that Kris Kristofferson was playing a show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and he was one of our favorite songwriters, so we got tickets. I remember it being sometime during the winter and we had walked there from our hotel and it was snowing. Bad idea.
So, we get to the Ryman, walk through the doors, and I had never seen anything like it. The stained glass windows, the artifacts of Country Music legends that had stood on the stage before, and we were fixing to see one of them in person! We find our seats and I am the youngest in the room by a few decades, but I didn’t care.
As the show began Kristofferson walked out on stage, picks his Gibson acoustic guitar up, and says, “Hello, I’m Kris Kristofferson.” That was all he said all night. It was all he had to say. There was no band, no smoke, no lasers. It was just a man, a guitar, and his songs. Songs that to this day I aspire to write half as well as. It is still one of my Top 5 concerts I have ever seen. That was my first concert ever.
