Chemical Burn – DREAM TOUR

In this Dream Tour segment, the metal band, Chemical Burn, shares the acts that they would include on their ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks, after the break.

Pantera – I know it’s a dream for a lot of people, but I would be remiss if I didn’t say Pantera. I actually toured with them once (in a previous band), and there are just no words to explain the experience. They were the definition of intense. Phil Anselmo once stopped the band in the middle of a song because he didn’t think the crowd was getting crazy enough (when they were of course going insane!). He yelled into the mic, “What part about going fucking ape shit didn’t you understand?!!” So Vinnie starts the song over and the crowd proceeds to go off the fucking wall! Meanwhile Dime is pouring shots of Crown Royal into plastic cups and throwing them into the crowd, and Phil takes a hit off a joint that he got from a guy in the front row, then passes it along to another guy a few seats over. I mean, that’s what rock ‘n roll is about! Watching those guys play never got old. Damn, we miss Pantera…and damn we miss Dime! We’d give anything for it to be a possibility to tour with them again.

Testament – Next on the dream lineup would definitely be Testament. We grew up in the Bay Area thrash scene and we’ve been inspired so much by Testament’s style. Chuck Billy has the ultimate metal voice. He’s got the mean-ass growl, he can hit those clean melodic notes, and he has that perfect grittiness for everything in between. Testament writes heavy songs, catchy songs – just an awesome band – one of the best ever. And on top of that, Gene Hoglan has been back in the band for the last couple records. Which coming from a drummer’s perspective – you have Gene Hoglan playing drums in one of your all-time favorite bands?!! It just doesn’t get any better than that!

Death – I lived on Death for years (a bit of an oxymoron, haha). This is another one of those dream tour scenarios where we wish we could have a metal legend back – Death front man and inventor of the Death Metal genre, Chuck Schuldiner. The band’s members have rallied to put together some kick ass Death reunion tours recently that we’d love to be a part of. Death introduced me to the Florida Death Metal scene – bands like Obituary, Cannibal Corpse and Deicide (great shit!). But when Death came out with the Human record, BOOM! You have this kid Sean Reinert playing shit on drums I never heard in metal before – Slayer-type double bass with technical fills and crazy jazz-like finesse. Then Individual Thought Patterns comes out with this dude Gene Hoglan on drums (just came from Dark Angel). I was thinking, this guy has a lot to live up to after the Human record. But then BOOM again! Gene went and put a whole new type of drum schooling on my ass! Hard hitting, tasty fills, and taking double bass drumming to the next level! These guys are truly a big influence on my playing today. Touring with them would be incredible.
