Alesana – 1st ROAD BLOG from “The Confessions Tour”

The rock band, Alesana, is currently on their full spring U.S. tour, called “The Confessions Tour” with Capture The Crown, The Browning, Conquer Divide and The Funeral Portrait. While they’re on this tour, they’ll be doing an exclusive blog for our site. You can check out the first entry, written by lead guitarist, Jake Campbell, after the break.

The first week of tour is always pretty crazy. You take leave from your normal life routine and jump into some extremely close living quarters with your band mates and crew. You meet a bunch of new people from the other bands and begin building friendships. The hardest part is trying to remember everyone’s names haha. Our ice cream truck (our sprinter) is pretty cool inside. The bunks are roomy, and it is really nice to have a microwave and fridge with us at all times.

This week we already had some really long drives in our vessel. Winston-Salem, North Carolina all the way to Louisville Kentucky. Fortunately, I got some solid sleep because my tour manager drives like an absolute champ. Both the Winston-Salem and Louisville shows were awesome. Shows in NC are always nice because it gives us a chance to be with friends and family, playing for the crowd that has been with us from the beginning. Expo 5 in Louisville is always fun because we get a chance to peruse through the flea market before the show starts. A few of the boys scored some pretty epic wizard shirts this time around.

After a fun night in Kentucky, we embarked on the excursion to Allentown. It was nice to have a day off so early into the tour to help adjust back into this sort of routine. We spent quite a few hours stocking up on cool things at Wal-Mart. Jeremy bought a really cool dad shirt that suits him all too well. We then celebrated the first two nights of the tour with our dear friends The Funeral Portrait.

Allentown was a fantastic time as per usual. Our band has so much history there and it’s great to always feel so at home while at Croc Rock. We drove through the night and headed back towards Pittsburg. Mr. Small’s may be one of the coolest venues in the country. The crowd in Millvale was absolutely electric, and it made for such a fun show. The ride from Mr. Small’s to Worcester was by far the longest drive on the tour so far; it takes even longer with poor weather conditions. It’s April and the North East is still covered in frozen lakes, patches of snow and freezing rain. Load in and load out sucked so bad at the Palladium, but I personally love playing that venue. Something about that place energizes me and inspires me to go even harder on stage. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this tour has in store for us.
