ZØYA - TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the indie pop/electropop artist, ZØYA, shares her tips for surviving on the road. You can check out her advice below:

1. Take Care of Yourself First
Touring can be amazing, but it can get really exhausting if you’re not checking in with yourself. I try to stay grounded with a little journaling or prayer in the mornings, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Running and staying active helps me feel human again and even just stretching or walking around after a long drive or flight makes a big difference. I’m also trying to be super careful with my voice, lots of water, gentle warmups and not over singing at soundcheck. Your mind and body really are your foundation out there.

2. Sleep (Seriously) and Protect Your Voice
Sleep is honestly one of my biggest challenges on the road. With early flights, late nights, all nighters and non stop moving, rest doesn’t come easy but it’s so important. Whether it’s a red eye flight or a long drive, I grab rest wherever I can… on planes, in green rooms, my Airbnb, wherever. I’ve also learned to really protect my voice after shows. If you’re a vocalist, try not to talk too much afterward, especially in loud environments. Resting your voice is just as important as warming it up.

3. Be Prepared & Enjoy the Ride
Touring isn’t cheap especially for indie, unsigned artists like me… so planning ahead is key. Budget for food, travel, your crew and always leave room for unexpected expenses. Having a small, reliable team makes everything run smoother. And honestly? Just have fun. Some of my favorite memories have come from the tours I’ve done and the shows I’ve played in new cities and overseas. Don’t forget to soak it all in!
