Tired Radio - CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the punk band, Tired Radio, shares one of their wildest memories from the road. You can check out the story below:

We were in St. Louis on tour, it was like 3am and we were tired, hungry, and just trying to find a safe spot to park our rental van for the night. We pull up to this parking garage that looks too short for our van, but there’s a security guard standing out front waving us in. We roll down the window and say, “Are you sure we’re gonna fit?” And without missing a beat, he goes, “YOU’RE GOOD!”

So we trust the guy — probably our first mistake — and inch forward, slow and steady, the whole band holding their breath. The ceiling gets lower and lower and lower… then suddenly:

CRUNCH!

The van’s roof scrapes the top of the garage like a soda can under a boot. Metal on concrete, hearts in our throats. And that same security guard, without a hint of irony, yells out:

“YOU’RE NOT GOOD!”

We throw it in reverse like we’ve just robbed a bank, backing out inch by inch while the sound of twisted metal scraping concrete gets completely drowned out by our laughter inside the van. It was so bad it circled all the way back to good.

Miraculously, when we returned the van at the end of tour, no one said a word. Somehow — somehow — we got away with it. To this day, anytime something seems sketchy, someone in the band just says, “You’re good!” and we all know exactly what it means.
