OCEANDVST - PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the alternative rock/metal and pop punk band, OCEANDVST, reveals what they do before taking the stage. You can check out their story below:

A typical OCEANDVST show day usually starts like this: Firstly, Chrysa (vocals) arrives at the venue for the soundcheck at least 30 minutes earlier. Is that a good or a bad thing? Normally, it’d be a good thing, but maybe not so much if you think that Evan’s (drums) and Jimmy’s (guitars) earliest ever arrival at a venue is at least 20 minutes after the time when our equipment is supposed to be plugged in. Not a good situation for Chrysa’s mental health.

After ensuring that everything sounds like it should at the soundcheck, Chrysa and Evan usually return to the hotel to get ready for the show, while Jimmy stays at the venue to stay in tune with the promoters and the other bands. Or at least this is what he says. His real quest is to drink as many beers as possible until the show starts.

Finally, after we get together at the venue and we refresh our outfits, the moment of the show arrives! We take some time to feel the energy in the venue and make sure that the equipment is ready and well prepared (this is actually the most crucial step, since our equipment is always very creative in new ways to betray us)… And boom! We are on the stage, going with the flow, and with no sense of time. All the stress of the day just pays off in a few minutes, and this is what makes the whole thing so unique!
