My dream tour is definitely dreamy because it requires time travel. As a youth, I believed that I should have lived through the decades of the 60’s and 70’s. When most kids in high school were listening to Green Day, Offspring, Radiohead and Alanis Morissette, I was diving into the likes of Simon & Garfunkel, Deep Purple, Yes, The Who, Jethro Tull and Rush just to name a few. Works of this era represent the apex of artistry and free expression…that stuff was captivating to me. I could feel it and smell it in my own dreams…being on stage at some huge festival, experiencing profound moments of new philosophies, new freedoms, spirituality, individuality and love, all celebrated through music! It was probably a very magical time for both musicians and fans. It’s likely, I would have been some kind of female version of Geoff Downes, only with some sort of golden cape and platform shoes. As a trained pianist, and Hammond endorsed artist, I’ll always be a sucker for classical/jazz/rock fusion episodes where people actually play their instruments and experiment with sound, pushing the boundaries through virtuosity in front of a crowd that’s open and hungry to receive…art. That would be my dream way to see the USA.
For the part of my dream tour that doesn’t require time travel, I have my sights on someday exploring Europe, Canada, and America (to start) through the means of playing theaters and arenas. I dream about a stage and budget large enough to have a big, growly Steinway that I can walk over to, sit down and play my heart out! Maybe I could just hitch along side of Ben Folds. He seems like a talented, nice guy with a fan base comparable in character to mine…his is just slightly bigger. Maybe he can share some of his fans…and his Steinway. If he’s not into it, maybe I could tag along with Sara Bareilles or Sarah McLachlan. Maybe they won’t mind. Maybe someday, I’ll be the rocker, piano chick that’s a household name.
As for now, life is still pretty dreamy, and I’m grateful. I’ve had the privilege to write, record, create, perform, travel and so much more. I have a supportive family and a wonderful band. There are so many amazing people in the world, and all I can hope for is that my music serves as a blessing to everyone who hears it.
