Great Mistakes - CRAZY TOUR STORIES
Join us as Ian Blackwood, of Great Mistakes, shares a crazy story from the road.
In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the pop-punk/alternative rock band, Great Mistakes, shares one of their stories from life on the road. You can check out the story from bassist/vocalist Ian Blackwood below:
It was 2001, I was in a band called Jersey (Fueled By Ramen) and we were doing the SnoJam tour across Canada with AFI and Rise Against (who were a brand new band at the time).
At our Toronto show I had maybe a few too many beverages for a 19 year old and decided once and for all it was time to ask the very Gothic Davey Havok “why on earth are you so pale and why do none of the members in AFI have nice west-coast golden glowing skin?”
With barely enough drunken confidence I walked up to Davey and muttered something to the tune of “why… hiccup… are you guys so pale…” He just laughed it off and said “Ian, we’re from Northern California, it’s a bit different there.” Just so matter-of-fact. In his defence it was the middle of February and suffice to say the Canadian boys were definitely not sportin’ any golden skin either. It was all in good fun tho. What a time to be young, alive and playing in a punk rock band.
