My first concert ever WASN’T The Rolling Stones. We had bought tickets with my parents and I was so excited to watch the legends coming to my country. And then Keith Richards fell off a coconut tree and the show was canceled. Funny, ha?
My first concert WASN’T The Muse after their first big hype on 2007. They were my favorite band of my teenage years and I was sooo excited to see them. But they played on a schoolday Thursday (I was 16 at the time ) 40kms away from my home. I will never forget the fight I had with my parents. The tears, the screams telling them I will never forgive them for not letting me go to my favorite band. And I never did forgive them.
My first concert was 6 months later when I went to see the Offspring as headliners with my best friend Kalliopi. The Offspring weren’t my favorite band but they were definitely one of the most listened bands through my highschool years. I loved them, I knew all of their songs and I could headbang and dance to every single of them. We were very excited going to our first concert and we had a great time, both crushing on Dexter and the guy standing right next to us. They played all of our favorite songs and we couldn’t stop dancing. During the same festival we also had the chance to watch The Gossip, Flogging Molly, Siouxsie and Marky Ramone. I remember that until the Offspring came we had drunk 3 margaritas each and we were so ready to enjoy our youth gone wild in our first rock concert ever. This was the beginning of many festival years to come.
Though I did have the chance to watch The Muse live 10 years later and to my surprise I enjoyed it as much as I think I would have at my sweet sixteen (minus the mosh pit), I still haven’t watched the Rolling Stones.. :( oh blame the coconut!
