Stateside – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the alternative rock band, Stateside, share what they do before every show. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

Typically, the show day starts at lunch time. We’ll meet up for a big lunch and drinks depending on what time the show is. As a group, we’ve come to refuse pre-show food because nobody likes to jump around on a full stomach.
Come sound check, everyone’s usually pretty excited. We run through a song or two and prepare ourselves for the next few hours of hype.
A few years ago, Brendan got everyone to wash their hands right before we were due on stage and it stuck ever since. We couldn’t tell you how, but we feel like it actually helps us play better. Don’t question it. It’s science.
An hour until the show, you’ll find Erin and Hamish meditating the butterflies away and Erin spends some time making the unholy noises that we have come to call ‘warming up’ and she sips on hot water/tea/weird magic potion until it’s stage time.
Right before we’re due to start, we’ll have a group cuddle. Then, at last, we stand in a circle, put our hands in, and yell ‘STATESIDE’ on 3. We’re ready.

Keep up with the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
