OCTOURBER 2012 – 5th ROAD BLOG from Anchors

While The Stereo State, Anchors, After The Fall and Antillectual are on their fall tour together called OCTOURBER 2012, they will be writing a rotating Road Blog exclusively for us. Each band will write a band for each day of the tour. You can check out the 5th and final entry, written by Pat of Anchors, after the break.

Fest was mental. We drove in overnight from Wilmington, and because I couldn’t drive, I stayed awake all night to keep Will and Mikey company while they drove, so by the time we got to Gainesville at about midday, I thought I was a hummingbird.

I expected nothing of our fest set, after all we’re just a shitty band from Australia playing literally the first set at the festival. The show ruled. We hit capacity as we were playing and the vibe of all the people was great, I would rate it as one of the funnest shows we ever played.

It was bittersweet watching ATF play because it was the last show of our east coast tour and nobody wanted to say goodbye. But they killed it, and then it was time to party.

We saw so many great bands and hung out with so many great people, I understand now that you cannot appreciate the gravity and fun of Fest until you go there.

Monday rolled around faster than we wanted it to and After the Fall disappeared into the night and we flew to San Fran for 5 days of R&R and our California shows with Heartsounds.

We have all felt a crazy affinity for San Francisco. It is the city most like Melbourne and the only place we have had to chill out for an extended period. Today we rented some bikes and rode across the Golden Gate to visit some Redwood forests. It was picturesque and relaxing and finally Anchors actually ENJOYED each others company.

We had dinner with Ben Murray our label manager/Heartsounds tour dog and dropped way more money on booze/sushi than we ever thought possible.

No one wants to go home, we just want this to last forever.
