In this Preshow Rituals segment, the indie pop artist, Nicky Youre, reveals what he does before taking the stage. You can check out the rituals below:

Every day on tour is different than the last, but there are some things that the band and I like to do every single show day when we get the chance to.

We normally start off our days by walking around the city we're in to grab a coffee or a bite to eat. I think it’s important to try and make a memory in each city that we visit, so we try to explore different areas each day and see as much of each city as we can. This always puts us in a pretty good mood, which is always a good thing on show days. We all try to eat healthy-ish when we’re on tour because it just makes life a lot easier. I don’t like to drink or eat any dairy products on show days because it apparently coats your throat and makes it harder to sing. As the day goes on, we eventually make our way to sound check where we make sure everything is ready to go for the show and we also talk about fun things we can do during the shows that night to keep things fresh.

Throughout the day, I try to keep my mind off the show and be as present in the moment as possible. Having a good day helps us have a good show, so we try our best to do things that make us happy. Shows are supposed to be fun so the more excited and energetic I can be rather than nervous, the better it is for the performance. The final thing we do before the show is we get huddled up in a circle, say a few things and then we all start barking and jumping up and down to get hyped up. I don't know how it started but we’ve been doing it for about a year now and it’s pretty much the only thing we do every single show now.
