When I look back at my first concert ever I think it may explain a little more of how I became MUSZETTE? When I was about six years old I was OBSESSED with…The Spice Girls, duh.
My little girl group from school had all convinced their parents to take them to what would be the concert of the year and I couldn’t be the only one to miss it! We all loved their synchronized harmonies, dance moves, and how they all had such a defined identity. I was extra enchanted with their British accents and can recall many I’m sure hilarious conversations with my friends trying to imitate them. Luckily I am an only child so when I begged my Mom to take me to their show it wasn’t that hard of a sell because I was kind of her world and she was (and still is) my best friend!
I still remember dressing up in what I thought was my coolest outfit (this checkered dress with black boots), and put my hair in space buns, which honestly is not far off from how I still dress today.
My favorite spice girl was Scary Spice, Mel B. I just loved her energy and outfits more than all the other spices. Of course we were all very disappointed to learn Ginger Spice had dropped out of the tour (scandalous), but I’m pretty sure I screamed my little head off singing along to all the words anyways.
I think that energetic pop sensibility I learned from them is something I’ll always carry with me in my music.
