So when I was gigging in London with my mate Kieran who plays the guitar for me, we have a rule that on a gig day we play the ‘what’s the odds of that?’ game.
Simply put the rules are, someone says what’s the odds on that to anything ie .. ‘what’s the odds that you’ll shave your eyebrows?’
Then the person who’s been questioned can pick the odds of a number between 1-20 and say ‘the odds are let’s say ‘1-12’ and then you count down from 3,2,1 and both the parties involved say a number between 1-12 and if the person who asked the question gets the same number as the person who stated the odds then the person who stated the odds has to do the task.
However there is one exception to the rule, and that’s if the person who gets asked the odds says the odds are 1-2, that means in theory that someone is doing the task regardless. They count down from 3,2,1 & if they get the same number the same rules apply meaning the person who gets asked the question does the task but if they get a different number the person who asked the odds bet has to do it.
So anyway we were gigging in London & we both got each other with it, I on the way to the gig said ‘what’s the odds you’ll take your shirt off and play the gig topless & not address it when asked’ he said ‘1 in 17’ & we both picked 8, so the shirt comes off on the tube & we go along play the gig & all throughout the gig Kieran’s getting the weirdest looks probably mainly from his indented chest haha!
Then on the way back (Kieran still shirtless), I see a half-drunk bottle of juice on the tube that someone had left I say ‘what’s the odds that you lick the rim of that bottle and down the rest of it’ & he says ‘1 in 2’ I thought ffffuu… I am a bit of a germaphobe who has always disagreed with things like the ‘3-second rule’, and the thought of drinking a liquid from a random bottle is rotten. Anyways, of course, it ends up he said 1 I said 2 so even though the thought of drinking from a random bottle is absolutely rotten to me – I am a man of my word & I know to secure the future of this game I need to do it…I ended up leaving some sick all over the tube somewhere near Kings Cross & Caledonian Road.
I highly recommend this game.
