Meg Smith - FIRST CONCERT EVER

In this First Concert Ever segment, the pop artist, Meg Smith, talks about the story of her first experience with live music. You can check out the story below:

Speak Now by Taylor Swift is one of my favorite albums of all time, and the Speak Now World Tour was my first concert ever. I was 11. Me & my friend spent all day making t shirts and signs so that we would be picked to meet Taylor after the show. But our hand painted t shirts didn’t make the cut and we weren’t chosen.  Nonetheless, I had the time of my life at that concert. I’m pretty sure I cried the whole time.

I recently re listened to Speak Now top to bottom while I was on tour. Me and my guitarist were driving from New York to DC and had 5 hours to kill. I still know every word to each song on the album. It’s hard to pick a favorite , but ‘Enchanted’ and ‘Dear John’ have always held a special place in my heart. I love how cinematic and wistful they sound.

When we played in DC on that tour, two girls came up to me after the show to say hi. Their mom drove them all the way from Richmond Virginia to see me. They said they went to the thrift store before the show to pick out outfits that matched the colors of my EP cover art. It reminded me of how I made my t shirt before the Taylor Swift concert. It felt like the coolest full circle moment.
