Lazyeyes – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

This crazy story from the road was written by the pop rock band, Lazyeyes. You can check out their story, after the break.

It all happened with our last Northeastern tour in April 2014, there were a ton of ‘interesting’ events that went on during our 6 day run. First, we were in NJ and after playing our set we were hanging in the back of the venue in the greenroom, when we realized that no one had the keys to the van. After searching around for a bit, we knew for sure that someone left it inside the van itself, which was locked. Luckily enough, we were able to find a locksmith to swing on by and opened the van with little to no effort. A few days later we were in Philly and after sound checking we decided to head back to our van and drive around a bit. To our surprise it seemed as if one of the tires were running flat. We decided to attempt to take it to a gas station in order to temporarily fill the tire with air, until we could bring it to a shop. The tire went completely flat half a mile into the drive and we were literally riding the hubcap on the concrete road. Somehow! We got to a gas station and spent over 2 hours trying to change the tire, which was not easy since it was rusted shut. We rushed back to the venue, all tensed up, and had about a minute to grab our gear and hop on stage to begin performing. Right after we played, Jason went out for some air and two intoxicated ‘bros’ decided to call him out for wearing all black. A crazy person saw this and ran towards the ‘bros’ and threatened to stab in the eyes, because he too was wearing all black and didn’t see the big deal of it. Jason was almost sure he was going to die at that moment, but the crazy person walked off and he went back inside the venue. Beyond those events, we performed in what is seen as one of the murder capital of America, and things were a little off in that specific city. The show itself was awesome and locals came out, but when we asked what people do for fun at night, they said they usually stay home due to all the crime that goes on there. So that night we decided to drive straight back to NY. On our way back, we almost ran out of gas and every station we went to was closed, we visited about 15 of them. It came to a final moment where we were deciphering whether or not to sleep in the van. Jeremy woke up from his deep slumber, looked at the gas meter and talked some sense into me (Jason) to drive 10 more miles, and we finally found an open station. The rest of the tour went well, and luckily we didn’t experience any other problems. But man, all those things that happened were pretty far fetched.
