Colt Graves - PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the country artist, Colt Graves, reveals what he does before taking the stage. You can check out the rituals below:

I know firsthand the importance of getting in the right mindset before performing. The energy, excitement, and anticipation that come with performing are some of the most intense feelings I've ever experienced. It's like being on the edge of a cliff, ready to jump off into the unknown.

Before I take the stage, I have a few rituals that help me get in the right headspace. First and foremost, I like to drink some beer. It's not about getting drunk, but rather about loosening up and getting rid of any nerves or tension. It's a way to calm my nerves and get me in the right mindset to perform.

Next, I take a moment to pray to God. I believe in a higher power, and I find that taking a moment to connect with that power helps me feel grounded and centered. It's a way to remind myself that I'm not alone and that I have support and guidance from something greater than myself.

My team is important, so I always make the time to talk to them individually and as a group. I give them words of encouragement like, “Don’t be a dumbass.” and “Get your shit together.”

I find that if your team isn’t all-in, then the show isn’t going to have the right energy. Don’t be afraid to slap them.

The final pre-show ritual is taking 5 to 10 minutes to be by myself and get focused. In order to put on the best possible show, you have to be in the right state of mind and mentally prepared for the experience. When the lights come up on the stage, I want to be 100% ready to pour my soul into my music and really connect with my audience.
