In this Preshow Rituals segment, the alternative artist, Chloe Echo, reveals what she does before taking the stage. You can check out the rituals below:

As I prepare to step onto the stage, I start by finding a quiet corner backstage. With closed eyes, I take a moment to engage in mindful breathing, stabilizing my breath and exhaling any nervous energy. While centering my breath, I also like to stretch my neck and shoulders. This simple practice helps me let go of distractions and focus on the present moment. Next, I do some vocal warm-ups like lip buzzes and scales, and I practice through any of the particularly challenging vocal parts that are in my set.

In the moments leading up to the show, I picture myself on stage, connecting with the audience, and delivering a memorable performance. This mental rehearsal helps me to feel confident. I like to spend most of my time pre-show alone, and I make sure to stay super hydrated throughout the day.

The final steps of my pre-show ritual involve connecting with my bandmates, sharing a few moments of laughter and encouragement.

After I have warmed up and stretched a little bit, I like to do some more rapid movements like jumping jacks or shaking my arms and legs, just to get energized and to expel any excess nerves. Then, I am ready to play!
