In this Preshow Rituals segment, the pop artist, Alexa Cappelli, reveals what she does before taking the stage. You can check out the rituals below:
I have a lot of different pre-show rituals I engage in. When I’m warming up before going on stage, I'll do lip buzzes and run through my songs like that, along with scales and some vocal sirens. Bless whoever is with me when I do those, because they are very repetitive and annoying to listen to, hahaha!
On show days, I usually try to eat how I eat every other day, because I can better rely on my voice when my diet is consistent! I don’t eat animal products, but other than that I like to eat whatever I’m craving, which is usually some sort of plant based concoction.
In general, my best days are the days when I find time to journal in the mornings. It has become an essential part of my daily routine, and I always leave the pages feeling more excited for the day ahead than on the days I forget or think I’ll be fine if I don’t. Life is hard enough with all the decisions that come in a 24 hour span, and I like to center in and remind myself of my vision before any chaos begins.
I love to huddle with my band and/or team that is with me before show time to pep talk and pray before I go on. We’ll pray for safety at the venue, no technical issues through my set, and if there are, then for the smoothness to recover from it, and for anything else going on at the time!! I love performing and I do my best to be very intentional with the time I get to spend with people in the audience from the stage.
