We love playing in Austin, especially when it is any time other than during SXSW. It’s a completely different city and one that we love much more than during that week in March when there are about 20,000 bands vying for attention and parking spots. In Austin, we stayed with some of the nicest people on the planet who were much more than accommodating. They cooked for us, washed our dirty clothes and gave us a comfortable place to stay and some good advice and encouragement. Thank you again.

The next few days were more about looking toward home. We were no longer so far away that it didn’t seem possible that we would ever sleep in our own beds again. Chicago was in our sights. We stopped and played in Denton, TX and then made our way to an unfortunate situation in Oklahoma City, where we didn’t end up playing. The next day, we were in Columbia, MO, a town that has always been good to us, and this time was no different. We need to play there more often. The next day was Rock Island, back in Illinois for a minute. Another great show, but there was one more before it was over. By the time we made it to Madison, it felt like we had been on the road for much longer than three weeks. Montana seemed like two months prior rather than just two weeks prior.

Over the course of the tour, there were some great shows, some pretty good ones and a few that we wish we could have skipped along the way. As it kind of always goes, we were tired and sick and a little on edge by the time we left Madison for the final drive back to Chicago, but we loved spending time with and getting to know the guys in Deleted Scenes, a great band and a great bunch of people. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience seeing the vastly different parts of the country and playing in some great cities and some amazing venues. We learned a lot of new things, re-learned some stuff and had some severe ups and and downs packed really closely together. We’re glad the tour was an overall success, probably more glad to be home and we’re excited about everything that is coming up next.
