Chad Sabo - CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the indie pop/rock artist, Chad Sabo, shares one of his stories from being on the road. You can check out the story below:

(I'm not sure if this is necessarily a wild tour story, but definitely one of the more interesting/memorable ones that came to mind.)

I was touring with a band as a hired musician awhile back. We had a day off in San Diego, so we decided to get some Mexican food and walk around near Old Town. On our walk, I noticed a house that looked really familiar. I'm a big fan of paranormal/ghost hunting shows and if you are too, you may have heard about the Whaley House. It's a small, two-story building built in the 19th century and apparently is one of the most haunted locations in the country. Ultimately, I convinced the band to do a tour of the house with me. It didn't take very long, nothing weird or paranormal happened to us, and we went about our day.

Later that night, we were eating dinner in town when the drummer started looking through photos he took earlier that day on his phone. He looked shocked, turned to the bass player and showed him a photo. Immediately after, he showed the guitar player the same photo. Every time someone new saw the photo, they were like, "No way! That's crazy!". I was sitting across the table and was the last to see. I thought they were just messing around with me, but when I saw the photo, I had the same reaction. It was a photo from the Whaley House of what looked like the upper body and face of a foggy, transparent little girl in old-fashioned clothing floating above a table. It didn't look doctored or edited. I asked if it was real and the drummer nodded.

That was really all that happened. We never talked about it much after that and no one ever claimed that it was fake or photoshopped. Even though I've played plenty of memorable shows and venues, this is definitely one of the more memorable moments for a variety of reasons. It was my first time in San Diego, the whole ghost thing, and it's even when and where I started writing my song Never Ending, which ended up on Rihanna's ANTI.
