Ceasefire – PRESHOW RITUALS

As a band, our live show is a big production. Between the equipment, stage props, additional musicians, and getting our Ceasefire party sticks into every fan’s hands… To soundcheck, pumping up Ceasefire beach balls, and VIP meet and greets with selective fans, our pre-show tends to be a bit crazy for us. Our ritual as a band for every live show, however, lies on the opposite side of this spectrum. Once all of this noise, movement, and action finishes we go into total seclusion.
This seclusion is a total and complete uninterrupted moment with the just the three of us. It’s our moment of meditation. There is a level of anxiety that I think every performer feels before a show. A point where the world is just too loud and you need to break away. That is this moment for us. This silence allows us to reset our ears for the show, stretch our bodies, warm our vocals and bring ourselves to a level of peace.
Once we are about to go on stage, we have a final ritual that we do before we start any show that we have ever played. Right before that first downbeat happens we come together on stage with all the musicians that we will be sharing the stage with. We create a circle holding each other’s hands. We hang our heads, and we pray for a great show. We thank everyone for being a part of it. We become one unit. We connect with each other, and you can feel the energy build as we all come together for one common goal. Putting on the best live show we possibly can, we aim to give the fans more than what they have paid to see. This moment is very important to us and is something that we will continue to do until the day we can no longer take the stage.
