Wake Up & Be Awesome Tour feat. The Summer Set – REVIEW

On a very snowy Tuesday night, we ventured out to The Bottom Lounge in Chicago for the Wake Up & Be Awesome Tour featuring The Summer Set, We Are The In Crowd, Go Radio and Paradise Fears. You can check out our review after the break.

This being the longest set, The Summer Set, has played in Chicago, they did not disappoint. They came to the Bottom Lounge, with Go Radio, We Are The In Crowd, and Paradise Fears, for their Wake Up and Be Awesome Tour.

Opening the night was Paradise Fears. As someone who has seen them countless times, I can say they just keep getting better every time they take any stage. They seem to have so much fun performing and are naturals at it. Playing songs such as “Home”, “Sanctuary”, and their mini version of “Don’t You Worry Child”, they got the crowd warmed up for the night. After their set, they made sure to meet all their fans and be around after the show.

Go Radio was up next. This being my first time seeing them I was excited. After their performance I would definitely see them again. With the crowd jumping and clapping along, they kept fans excited by playing “Goodnight Moon”, “Hold On”, “Any Other Heart” and new songs “Go to Hell” and “I Won’t Lie”, off their album titled Close the Distance. They are definitely a band you do not want to miss perform live.

With having to cancel their show, the previous night, due to Taylor Jordine being sick, We Are The In Crowd managed to still play for Chicago. Coming on stage she asked the crowd to help her sing and they did just that and better. With the crowd being able to be heard over them, WATIC, delivered an amazing show despite Taylor’s sickness. Including songs such as “Never Be What You Want”, “Kiss Me Again”, “The Worst Thing About Me”, “Rumor Mill”, “See You Around”, “You’ve Got It Made”, “Better Luck Next Time”, and “Exits and Entrances”, they had a great set.

“I need you off your feet, Chicago” was what was heard from lead singer, Brian Logan Dales of The Summer Set. With this encouragement the people complied. Playing both old and new songs, they gave an amazing performance. All the members were energetic and looked as happy as can be to be on stage.  They showed their thanks for “braving some serious weather” to be there with them by playing  “Punch Love Drunk”, “Someone Like You”, “Love Like This”, “Girls Freak Me Out”, “The Boys You Do”, “When We Were Young”, “Must Be The Music”, “Chelsea” and a cover of “Locked Out of Heaven”. For “Where Are You Now” and “About a Girl”, Brian played the acoustic guitar for the first time in Chicago. Afterwards they played a new song, “Boomerang”, and after what was the supposed last song of the night they left the stage with the crowd chanting ‘One More Song’. They then came back on stage to play two more songs with one of them being “Legendary”. Beforehand though, he gave the crowd the words “Be the best person you can be in a world full of reality TV bullshit”.

If this tour is coming to a venue near you, do not snooze and grab a ticket for an awesome night. All the bands on this tour are worth seeing and were worth going out into the snow and cold to see them.
