The Runaround – TOUR TIPS

This set of Tour Tips was written by New England rock band, The Runaround. You can check out their tips for being on the road, after the break.

1. Communication-
Everyone has to be on the same page whether it’s people working at venues, everyone in the band, sound guys, and the general public. You’ve gotta all be on the same page as much as possible or things get really disorganized and tension rises.

2. Gear Protection, Ear Protection-
It is really cool to hear your gear blasting in your ears and seems fun but after a while, but your ears just won’t be able to handle it after a while. Don’t let it get to that point and avoids a lot of headaches by being smart. The same applies for your gear. Get a road case and power conditioner before you destroy your gear. It’ll get beaten up faster than you know it!

3. Home away from Home-
Always bring a blanket. Sometimes it gets really cold. Pack extra clothes because you’ll either get covered in booze or food. Also, bring things that will make you comfy on the road. The band will be pretty far away from home and you can get home sick. Bring that piece of home with you.

4. Money-
Make sure to have a budget. Gotta always have that money saved up. Anything could happen on tour. Bring groceries to cut down on the excessive eating out. It can get costly on tour and anything to save on money is a big help.

5. Hygiene-
No one likes a Swamp butt. Whenever possible find a shower. you can find a Hotel, Motel(for the cheaper route) or even Camp grounds(Tons of fun!). Keep them teeth clean. fresh breath is always a good thing when you are meeting a lot of new people every night.
