The CRY! – 5th ROAD BLOG from their Summer 2015 U.S. Tour

The Portland-based rock ‘n roll band, The CRY!, is currently on their summer 2015 U.S. tour, support their new album, Dangerous Game. While they are on this tour, they will be doing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out the final entry, with photos, after the break.

Tuesday, Sept. 8: Went to House of Guitars in Rochester, N.Y., super-cool music shop with rooms full of old guitars, basses, amps, drums, and records. Played The Bug jJar. Lost Elements’ drummer went home for family issues, so they skipped this show. The local opener dropped off as well, so it was just us. Made the best of it and had a good time anyway.

Wednesday, Sept. 9: Played Pittsburgh, PA, tonight, really fun show, great turnout. Afterward, went out to a tiki bar, where one of the guys we met was DJ-ing that night. Tons of shots bought for us. Joey puked right in front of the bar and we had to leave.

Thursday, Sept. 10: Got tattooed this morning by Todd Porter at Sinners and Saints. He’s a badass dude and hooked Joey, Brian, and I up with some little flash pieces. Played Cleveland, Ohio, tonight. Cool little club on the riverfront called Roc Bar.

Saturday, Sept. 12: Played Cafe Rumba in Columbus. Fun show. We hit the road right after to cut out some of the ride to Indianapolis, IN, but every hotel along the way was booked, so we ended up driving all the way and got to my buddy Brett’s house at 5:30 am. We were greeted with beers to shotgun and drank fireball till 7:30.

Sunday, Sept. 13: Kicked it around Indy all day, got some laundry done. Black Cat Rebellion opened the show tonight, some of my good buddies from the Midwest. They did a killer cover of “New Rose” and “Lord’s Prayer.” Party back at Brett’s after.

Monday, Sept. 14: Today was my first time back in my hometown of Chicago, IL, since I moved about two years ago. Still felt like I never left. Met up with my mom and my late friend’s mom for lunch at a banh mi place in Wicker Park, then spent the rest of the day grilling at my friend from my old band The Van Buren Boys’ place while a bunch of friends came over. Headed down to the house party in Pilsen at about 9. We ended up playing at 12:30, and by then the cops had come twice already, so by the sixth song we got shut down again for good.

Tuesday, Sept. 15: Kicked it around Chicago all day catching up with old homies till our in-store show at Bric A Brac Records at 6. As soon as we finished, we had to pack up and head a few miles down Milwaukee Avenue to Live Wire, where we played probably my favorite show of the tour, but I am biased cause it’s my hometown and I got to see all my friends I hadn’t seen in a few years. Got some 4 a.mm tacos and called it a night.

Wednesday, Sept. 16, and Thursday, Sept. 17: Milwaukee, WI, tonight at R&D Pub. Got to see more Midwest friends. My buddies in Midnight Reruns came out. If you haven’t heard them, they are definitely worth checking out. They just dropped a new record called Force of Nurture. Kicked it with the rest of Milwaukee homies at another bar till close. Headed out early and drove straight to Kansas City. Took us about 12 hours, nothing exciting here, just typical van stuff.

Friday, Sept. 18: KC was a blast, really fun show. We played on a stage in the back patio of the bar. Awesome crowd, and the first band, The Josh Berwanger Band, were super-good.

Saturday, Sept. 19: Last night of tour tonight in Denver, Colorado. Show was one of the best for sure. Awesome scene here, super cool people. Six Shooters opened the show and played a great rockin’ set. Afterwards we all partied on Lost Elements’ tour bus. Now that it’s all over, I’m still not ready to go home. It’s been an awesome seven weeks and I can’t wait to get out and do it all over again.
