The Sounds’ Fall North American Tour – REVIEW

We recently had the opportunity to review and photograph the Chicago date of The Sounds’ fall North American tour. You can check out our review and concert photos, after the break.

Recently, Double Door played host to The Sounds and Chicago natives, Gemini Club.

Taking the stage first was Gemini Club. Getting the crowd in the groove they played songs such as “Can’t Believe You Said That”, “By Surprise”, and more. Their mixes with electronic beats and guitar rhythms with its drum background, creates music you can dance and just have a positive vibe to. Vocalist, Tom Gavin, made sure to give Chicago love and thanked them for coming to see them. I would want to go see them again just by their stage presence alone. They all seem passionate about the music they play and look like they are having fun performing.

With a new record, Weekend, coming out Oct. 29th, The Sounds put on a killer show, making sure to play older and new songs for the crowd. Lead Singer, Maja Ivarsson, is a mix of someone who just doesn’t care what people say and just wants to have fun. Coming on stage with a cigarette in one hand and wearing heels mind you, she knew how to work the stage. I give her major props for doing the entire set in those heels including climbing on top of a speaker and jumping from it, going into the crowd, and jumping up and down. She was always moving on stage and smiling. She had lots of energy which got the crowd pumped up as well and singing along. Making the stage their own, they played “Living in America”, “Dorchester Hotel”, “No One Sleeps When I’m Awake”, “Shake Shake Shake”, “Hope You’re Happy Now”, “Something to Die For”, “Weekend”, and others.

If you have never gotten the chance to see either of these bands live yet, don’t waste any more time. They both are really something to see and they leave you with a smile on your face and talking about it the next day.
