Skinlab – 4th ROAD BLOG from the “Twenty Years In The Trenches Tour” with 36 Crazyfists

The groove metal band, Skinlab, is currently on their “Twenty Years In The Trenches Tour” with 36 Crazyfists, All Hail The Yeti and Incite. While they’re on this tour, their guitarist, Provo, will be doing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out his fourth entry, after the break.

Day 18 was in Denver at The Roxy Theatre. Denver rocks! It was also our guitar player Marcos birthday! I didn’t realize how many friends I had from Oklahoma that now lived in Denver but they came swinging! We started the day with some insanely good food from our boy Ryan. Then continued the party all night! It was an amazing Monday night show and the “Dablab” was in full effect that night!

Day 19 was supposed to be at the Mesa Theater in Grand Junction. We heard that there were some issues while on our way to this show. When we got there we heard the venue was closed down and that the show couldn’t happen there. We hung around a while trying to find another venue but it was too last minute to make anything work so we just packed up and headed out.

Day 20 was in Idaho Falls at DB’s. This show was awesome! They had radio support for this show and you could tell! Steev and Brock did an on air interview for the local station and they were jamming all the bands all day. All of the fans and bar staff were extremely thankful for all the bands coming to their town and partied hard with us all night!

Day 21 was in Salt Lake City at Bar Deluxe. We got to town early and decided to walk down to the Heavy Metal Shop. This dude has been supporting metal/hard rock since the 80s and it’s cool to see it still kicking today! My friends from The Jimmy Clip also came out and took Marcos and I out for dinner and drinks and hooked me up with a custom “Provo” clip. It was a cool show with some old school lab fans in attendance!

Day 22 was in Las Vegas at the Adrenaline Bar. I played this club a bunch in my old band when it was called the Cheyenne Saloon. This show started out weird for me cause I passed out on the bus and woke up just a couple songs before we played. The show ended up killing and was probably one of my favorite on the tour. Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage) was out to hang with the 36 guys. We ended up kidnapping him for a little bit to party on our bus then drank hard back in the bar together. This was also the first day I think we all thawed out since Phoenix!

Day 23 was in San Jose at the Back Bar. This was a hometown show for the lab and you could tell. The band actually played some of their first shows just around the corner. Tons of family and friends out catching up and sharing great stories of past touring and partying! The show was incredible! It was a small room but was over capacity and everybody there was pumped for the show!

Day 24 was in Chico at Lost on Main. The last day of the tour! There’s always a love/hate with these days. Everybody’s sad it’s over but happy to get to head home and recharge. All Hail The Yeti definitely won the day! We knew they were up to something all day and then when it was time for them to play they made an announcement stating Yeti couldn’t make it tonight and instead Denim Snake would take their place. They came out in cutoff shorts and pink shirts and killed everyone! A couple of them stayed in character all night. It was hilarious! We ended the night with hugs and laughs!

It was truly an honor to be a part of this tour and celebration of 2 bands that have been crushing for 20 years! You couldn’t ask for a cooler bunch of musicians and crew! If you’ve never heard any of these bands check them out now and thank me later! Thanks to my homie Scott and Cavigold Records for keeping us riding in style on the Cavibus, Caviar Gold for keeping us lifted, Chris at ESP guitars for keeping our tones crushing, The Jimmy Clip for the new clips, all the fans and friends who came out and threw down with us, all the clubs and promoters for taking care of us and of course our friends here at Digital Tour Bus! Keep rocking and see you soon!
