Sarah’s broken foot at Glastonbury:
We were playing at Liverpool Sound City and I was wearing very high stilettos! I fell off the stage at the end of the gig and broke my foot in two places. I felt embarrassed so tried to play it cool and walk on it but in the end, we had to go to Liverpool A+E on a Saturday night where most people were rolling drunk and I was accused of being drunk myself but I was actually stone cold sober! We were supposed to fly to Miami the next day for a show but couldn’t go. The nurses put a big pink plaster cast on my leg and Hamish wrote ‘twat’ on it. 5 weeks later we played Glastonbury in my pink twat cast (I believe the evidence is on Youtube). It was extremely muddy so had to wear a bin bag over my leg for most of the day to protect it!

Hamish’s food poisoning in Belgium:
We were in Belgium on tour with Oh Land when we decided to stop off for lunch at a service station. We contemplated getting a standard Maccy D’s but went for a more expensive luxury meal of steak tartar which was an error. Hamish got food poisoning. We had an 8-hour drive the next day where he was being sick all over the van. Delightful. Should have gone to Maccy D’s.

When the sound man bottled the promoter:
At a gig in Brighton, the sound man was collecting his payment for the evening’s work when the promoter said his payment was in an ‘offshore bank account’ in Jersey. The sound man wasn’t very happy about this so took a beer bottle and smashed it into the promoters face in front of us. It wasn’t pretty.

Hamish chucked out our own gig for being underage:
We played a gig in Reading when Hamish was 17. We weren’t allowed to stay in the venue before our set so we spent the evening in Reading train station at Starbucks. Great coffee, though.
