The Funeral Portrait – 1st ROAD BLOG from 2015 Co-Headline Tour With Vanity Strikes

The theatre rock band, The Funeral Portrait, is currently on their co-headline tour with Vanity Strikes. While they’re on this tour, they will be doing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out the first entry, with photos, after the break.

Our tour with Vanity Strikes started off with a bang in the American south. Our first show in Spartanburg, SC brought out some familiar faces and a few kids wearing our shirts from our pervious tour with Alesana. For a Thursday night, Ground Zero was alive with energy as the night progressed. It was great to see Vanity Strikes again, and although we had only met once before, it was as if we had been friends for years. These guys are a great band with a great sound, and we were glad they got such a warm welcome in our home territory.

Next on the map were two hometown shows at His Rock and Swayze’s Venue. His rock was packed out and left little standing room, but everyone found room to jump and rock out to all of the bands.

The next stop was Swayze’s Venue, our home venue. This show was off-the-walls insane. The place was packed for all the bands and everyone gave all their energy to the touring acts. Never before have I seen so many kids singing along to our lyrics! It was also great to see all of our friends partying to Vanity Strikes and picking up their merch.

The final stop for this chapter is the A&M Theater in Panama City Beach. The venue is above a restaurant and has a very narrow staircase, so load-in was tricky, but all the lifting and tetris were worth it because the place was jumping once the bands started. I don’t know what was in the water at PCB, but those folks know how to bring it for the touring acts! We were joined during our final song, Wax Romantic, by Danny from Vanity Strikes wearing a gorilla suit, who sang guest vocals and pumped up the crowd. The shows just keep getting better every night, so we’re excited to head up north in a few days.

Until next time, thanks to everyone who came out and made these shows possible!
