The Foxies – DREAM TOUR

Hey guys. Julia here from The Foxies. We were asked what our “dream Tour” would be. Well in retrospect, it would be more like a teeny music festival involving us as the opener and vintage music Gods. The Gods consist of Joy Division, Tears for Fears, The Smiths, The Cure, U2, and Bowie. Now you see why it would be a teeny festival…We would open the show after running around the venue for a good 15 minutes, jumping up and down to get all hyped, and probably taking a drink of wine/beer. Mhm. Our set would be forty-five minutes long and consist of every song off of our upcoming ep “Oblivion.” As well as some future release tunes and some throwback solo stuff. Once flirting with the crowd and getting them riled up for the next bands, we would bid the crowd “adieu” and exit the stage.

Band 2. Joy Division. This band is the definition of nostalgia for me. I remember being 15 and at my first band’s practice, and we took a break to watch the biopic “Control” on Ian Curtis’ life. Ever since then, they were the soundtrack to my early mornings and slightly-angsty teen years. Curtis opened my eyes to a new type of music and that made me a huge fan of his life story and the meaning behind his words, his personality, and his performances. They would end the set with “Disorder” and walk off the stage to let the rest of the guys make their New Order gig down the street. Rest Easy Mr. Curtis.

Band 3, Will’s (Foxies Guitarist) contribution is Tears For Fears. I’m speaking for him on this one, but I do believe the waterfall guitar licks in each of their songs would make this tour a classic, one that we would not stop singing to. Opening with “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” would set the tone for the show, and closing with “Head Over Heels” will leave the crowd with a bittersweet melancholy tug at the heart strings. (Me and the guys are currently eating hot dogs in the crowd.)

Bands 4 and 5 are The Smiths and The Cure. I am a diehard Smiths and Cure fan. Morrissey has moves and words that make me want to dance under a gypsy sky. Robert Smith has the melodies and vocal tone of a mysterious nightmare that people want to dream over and over again. Two sets full of nothing but “This Charming Man,” “How Soon is Now, “BigMouth Strikes Again,” “Lullaby,” “Boys Don’t Cry,””Mint Car,” and “Feels like Heaven” would leave me living my musical dream. I would be taking nonchalant videos and photos.

Band 6, Matt’s (Foxies Bass Player) contribution, and I completely agree with this one, would be U2. My dad raised me on U2 and I have been a huge fan ever since. Bonos soaring melodies, catchy guitar riffs from The Edge, heart-thumping bass from Adam Clayton, and pounding, sexy drum fills from Larry Mullen Jr. (he’s a hunk), have always made me feel a tug of motivation at my chest. I would say they are one of the bands that gets me back on the creative track. With that being said, I would also be taking videos for my dad during this set, as well as crowd surfing with Matt.

Last but not least, our headliner, is Bowie. Luke (Foxies Keyboardist), Mark (Foxies Drummer) and I all came into agreeance with this one. He would open as Ziggy, and cycle through each of his lovely personas leaving the crowd pleased like he used to. Bowie is a fashion and musical chameleon; always able to adapt perfectly to the changing times. I would be surfing to this set as well. He would end the set with “Heroes” and make an epic exit, Then each band would gather backstage for an end-of-the-night “Hoorah.”

There’s our tour/baby music festival. If you ask me or any of the dudes, it’s definitely dreamy.
