Chiodos’ “The Devil’s Dance Tour” – REVIEW + PHOTOS

We recently had the pleasure of attending the Chicago-area date of Chiodos’ “The Devil’s Dance Tour” with Emarosa, Hands Like Houses, Our Last Night and ’68, at Mojoes. You can check out our review and photos from the show, after the break.

The Devil Dance Tour featuring Chiodos, Emarosa, Hands Like Houes, Our Last Night, and ’68, made it’s way to Mojoe’s in Joliet this past weekend. If you weren’t at this show, then you missed one hell of a show. All of the band’s on the lineup, put on an incredible show, and had high energy.

With ’68 opening the night, these two musicians, don’t need anyone else on the stage with them. “I know we’re loud, I wish we were louder but the law says we can’t. Turn down for whom,” said singer of ’68 to the crowd. He was very entertaining and I would love for them to come back.

Next up was Our Last Night. Playing songs such as “Same Old War”, “Dark Storms”, “Liberate Me”, “Sunrise”, a cover of Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse”, they really gave a performance. They will be coming back in July and if you have missed the oppurtunity to see them live in the past, don’t pass up seeing them this summer. After the show they were around, making sure to meet everyone and take pictures and just have conversations with their fans.

Hands Like Houses took the stage next and this was my first time seeing them live but it won’t be my last. People really got into the set and began crowd surfing as well. Songs such as “Lion Skin”, “A Tale of Outer Suburbia” and others made the setlist. My only wish is that their set would of been longer.

The venue seemed pretty packed by the time Emarosa took the stage. Fortunately for the crowd, Bradley, practically made no use of the stage, being in and on top of the crowd most of the set. “I’m supposed to be on stage but fuck that”, he told them. The fans though, didn’t seem to mind and it engaged them more into the show. When he was on stage though, you can bet that he kept jumping off to be with the crowd and have them sing with him. It was great to see Emarosa perform and even with all the lineup changes they have had overr the years, I love that they keep going and make music.

With Chiodos performing, the crowd went nuts. With crowd surfing, moshing, circle pits, the works. It was indeed, as Craig Owens said “Chiodos is back.” Some songs of the night included “A Letter from Janelle”, “Under Your Halo”, “We’re Talking about Practice”, “Theremacare”, “Behvis Bullock”, “There’s no Penguins in Alaska”, “Ole Fishlips is Dead Now”, and many more. Not only did they give an encore but they came back on stage to play two more songs. Once they were done, they all came together and held hands and took a bow to the crowd. They are a fun band to see live and if you haven’t already, I suggest going to one of their shows.

This tour has some really great bands on the bill and together they make for an incredible night of music.
