Callum Stewart – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the alternative pop artist, Callum Stewart, shares what he does before every show. You can check out his rituals, after the break.

My favorite thing to do in the world is to play shows. I have been lucky enough to have some incredible experiences all over the world including Ireland, The UK, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia and it has been magical. Before these shows, I usually get incredibly nervous but I do have a couple of pre-show rituals that I do before every performance.

Firstly I’ll head into the venue and chat to anyone I can find. I’m quite a social being and therefore talking to people usually relaxes me a little before I go up to soundcheck. If I am the support act, I always stick about to listen to the headliner sound checking because there is so much to learn from acts with more experience than yourself and yes, I do realize how cheesy that sounds.

Before the show, I always head to the green room to see what bits of the rider I can steal before the show. If I’m being completely honest it’s usually just a lot of junk food. Finally, and most importantly, I have a glass of my beloved Bushmills 12-year-old single malt whiskey. It’s class for your vocal chords and also tastes amazing so it’s a win-win situation. After that, all that’s left to do is head on stage and give the crowd some of that sweet depressing pop music.
