Bad Luck – 1st ROAD BLOG from the “Cold Bones Record Release Tour”

We’ve teamed up with the rock band, Bad Luck, to do an exclusive tour blog for us during their current “Cold Bones Record Release Tour.” The band really lives up to their name. Stayed tuned for future blogs to see if band’s luck turns around. You can check out the first entry, after the break.

So July 18th was the first night of tour/our record re-release show and it was awesome. We did the show at our drummer Jake’s venue in Daytona, “The Lion’s Den”, which is just a really awesome VFW hall. It had to be the hottest room in North America that night but a bunch of kids came, awesome bands played, and a good amount of our family and friends came out to support us and “see us off”. Despite the awesome note we started out on, we woke up the next day to find out there was a problem with our van. This was also literally a week after we had just replaced the transmission so it was the equivalent to someone stomping on our collective dick (mentally/metaphorically at least), and we realized we wouldn’t be able to make the house show we were supposed to play in South Carolina that night. We ended up being able to get a deal from this mechanic that our friend brought us to, because he was into punk rock when he was younger and wanted to help us out. So that was awesome and kind of made us “thankful” that the van broke down before we were out in the middle of “wherever”, where we probably wouldn’t have known anyone we could trust to honestly help us out. So the next day, we were finally ready to go and we headed out to Green Light Studios in Augusta, GA. It ended up being a pretty cool show with a very literal decent turnout. There were about 15-20 kids and it seemed like no one there really knew about our band, but because of that, it was cool watching people genuinely react to our music for the first time. Also, the dude at the venue got us a pizza and they had the baseball game I wanted to watch on in the back room. So overall, I had an awesome time. We drove through the night to stay with our friend Ryan in NC and after getting an awesome amount of sleep in one of the darkest rooms I’ve ever been in (it was windowless), we woke up and drove to the Greene street club in Greensboro, NC. There was actually no one there, aside from the other bands, and I’m pretty sure the promoter was there for 5 minutes. But the sound guy was awesome, we played really well, and we saw this awesome indie punk band that put us all in pretty good moods. That night, we went to stay with the owner of our label, Tommy in another part of NC, and on the way there we realized the van was having more issues.

The next day, we woke up and took the van to Sears, waited all day for it to be fixed (which led to us dropping the Virginia Beach show at the Hook Up), and spent another night on tour not playing a show. It sucked but Tommy had taped wrestling and bought beer for us and the Yankee game was on that night, so that pretty much sums up “what we did” that night and it was fun hanging out. The next day, the van was finally fixed, and we left Tommy’s to go play Biggs BBQ in Richmond, VA. When we pulled up it seemed like there were a really good amount of kids but it turned out there was another venue next door and they were all there to see that show. Other than the people who were there to eat/the other 2 bands (which were both 2 pieces), and the kids who were smoking outside the other show, there was absolutely nobody there. It was definitely kind of a bummer but despite all the bullshit, we were all still having an awesome time. And even though it was because another show (our Jersey show) fell through, we went straight to New York from Virginia. Between me and Joe originally being from there and friends we all have from there, we were incredibly excited to just be home and around people we missed/loved.
